I´m Jo´s little brother Dawson and I admire your blog. I commented on this one both to say that and to give cautionary advice to people like those in Anonymous whose zeal for openness and penchant for slick technical solutions may do humans much good but sometimes excite problems of irregular shape.

I had the privilege of passing as a tourist through Veracruz, Mexico, where people generally ought to go. Sadly their beautiful Gulf state is a popular highway for cocaine meant for sale in the U.S., and in particular for a vicious cartel called Zetas. Anonymous, recognizing money as both important incentive and functional ingredient for the Zetas bullshit, meddled with some of the cartel´s bank accounts. This provoked violent terrorism by the cartel, whose toolkit and whose teleology bleed outside the lines of neat causative diagrams.

The social networking is beautiful in places where decisive authorities, such as the United States in Tahrir square, can call off the chaos dogs but in Syria Veracruz Gaza Bahrain Cuernavaca there are very bad people whose manner is not as mild as that of the class enemy in the PayPal tech support corps.

Those pictures from India and Solentiname are fantastic! I am at a ¨Japanese hostel¨ (so-called for its operators and most of its clientele being from Japan) in el DF and some of the folks here share your complaints about Tokyo and your affection for Southern California. Meeting so many cool, humanistically engaged people from Tokyo, though, makes me feel like when you´re a bunch of whiners.

As a new reader I can tell Google´s toolbar translator is going to look after me a whole lot.

    Que le vaya en paz
